  • How large is your operating budget?

The balance sheet from our annual report is available here. Please note that the Children & Families Program was acquired by Sunrise Children’s Services, (November 1, 2007) and the Pathways Program for individuals with developmental disabilities has transitioned to the Volunteers of America in northern Kentucky, and to Kentucky Opportunities in central Kentucky. As the transition of these programs has taken place , the pie chart to the right and our annual report reflects our budgetary allocations when those programs were still under Christian Care’s management. For more information, please view our press release about Sunrise. Budgetary numbers reflecting the changes will be published when our 2007 Annual report is released in the second quarter 2008.

We’re proud to say that only 7.56 percent of Christian Care’s operating budget supports administrative expenses.  We strive to run a lean organization and spend every dollar wisely in support of our mission.

  • Why did Christian Care Communities sell its Pathways and Children’s Services programs?

While we treasured the impact we were able to make with these programs, we felt it was time to focus our energy and resources solely on serving Older Adults. With the coming boom in the senior population, we believe our nation is headed toward a potential crisis caused by housing and care shortages for Older Adults. We feel it is our duty to offer very much needed options for seniors that will allow them to stay as independent as possible, while allowing them to age and place and be well taken care of when their needs grow. The compassionate, spirit-filled care we can offer Older Adults and their families is needed now more than ever.

As for the Pathways and Children’s Services Programs, we have placed them in only the most capable of hands. The entities that acquired these programs will be able to bring fresh ideas, expertise and resources to these programs.

  • Is Christian Care Communities affiliated with any religious organizations?

Christian Care Communities is the oldest outreach ministry of the Disciples of Christ (DOC) and the Christian Church/Church of Christ. We are blessed by the support of more than Christian churches in the region, which generously support our work with organized church giving campaigns and through individual donations. We also receive generous donations from churches and individuals from outside the Christian denomination to further this important work.
